A review sent to agent Tony West from a recent P&O 'Aurora' engagement by USA trumpet player, Greg Palmer:
Dear Mr West,
I just wanted to drop you a short note to let you know what a pleasure it was to work with Asa Murpy. I have been a professional trumpet player for over 30 years and I have played with many world class vocalists - and Asa is certainly one of them. I think Asa will be one of the guys I'll say someday, "I backed this guy up before he was famous". He truly is a rising star.
I've backed up many cabaret acts on this ship but Asa is the only one where at the end of the show the audience immediately rose to their feet and gave a standing ovation. As a bonus Asa is a great guy, humble and with an outstanding personality (talent and being a great guy rarely come together in the same package).
So in short, thank you for sending Asa to the MV Aurora for me to have the experience of performing with him.
Best, Greg Palmer Lead Trumpet - MV Aurora

An email 'review' sent 17 Februrary, 2009 of Asa's album by Sam Leach (original promotor of The Beatles):
Asa, I gave the album a full listen today and you are quite brilliant. You would have held your own right in the midst of those halcyon days when Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Andy Williams, Deano, Matt Monroe and Al Martino trod the boards.
And Begin The Beguine is still my fave...fabulous. Lovely to hear the music - my music - of yesteryear being given a 21st Century uplift.
Let me know when you're nearby and I'll come to see you perform. Great work Asa...you're going to be bigger than you perhaps dream of.
If I can be of any help in furthering your career let me know. I have massive contacts in America...including the son of Frank Sinatra's manager who now looks after Joe Bonamassa.
Sincerely, Sam
